The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Backlash Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Experiences Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Manual Updates A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
