Glenn shared that Boyd, who is hospitalized, was “upbeat” during a recent discussion. “What reassures me, is that he’s feeling positive,” Glenn stated on Wednesday. “His family, they’re in good spirits and he will walk away from this just fine.” Glenn was unsure when Boyd could be discharged the hospital, where his condition is described as in critical but steady condition. “Still unsure,” Glenn remarked. “However, I can share, just talking to him, he seemed very positive. Once more, that reassures me, because of his outlook and he expresses himself so positively.” Authorities shared video stills Monday of a suspect in the incident involving Boyd. The reason behind the incident is still being looked into and police mentioned it is unknown if Boyd was targeted. No one else was hurt were reported. The incident occurred in the early morning on Sunday morning in the area between Madison Square Garden and the iconic square. Boyd, 29, was transported to Bellevue Hospital after sustaining an abdominal gunshot wound, according to authorities. The perpetrator got away. Glenn mentioned Boyd has occupied his thinking “a great deal” since he heard about the shooting. The coach said that Boyd and his wife just had a child. “The first thing I thought about, he just had a kid,” Glenn noted. “And I’m thinking about his wife, I’m thinking about his kid and I want to make sure that he’s OK. That was my main concern. “There’s a process to this, that I won’t detail, but I am pleased that his outcome looks very positive.” Boyd hasn’t played during the current season, after joining the team, after going on the season-ending injured reserve list on 18 August with an injury to his shoulder that involved surgical repair. Boyd came to New York as a free agent in March and was anticipated to become a significant contributor of a revamped special teams unit under the coach and ST coordinator the special teams coach. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury during preseason drills on 2 August and was carted from the field. Boyd continued to be present all season long while healing from his surgery. “He has stayed engaged with the team,” Glenn said. “Certainly, he attends every game. He’s fully engaged. As one of the league’s best on special teams, he’s done a really good job of helping the other guys we have.” Boyd, hailing from the Lone Star State, played his first four seasons with the Vikings after being a seventh-round pick by Minnesota out of the University of Texas in the 2019 draft. He joined Arizona in 2023 and later was with the Texans subsequently. Boyd inked a single-season agreement worth $1.6m with New York in March.
