The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many fans into the National Football League

This outcome could have created opportunities for the New England Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an advantage over their 8-2 rivals

Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award

The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for Buffalo?

Josh Allen in action
Was Josh Allen try too much or could it simply have been a poor performance for Buffalo?

Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City last week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to address

The Bills had won seven in a row against Miami but were second best from the start as the Miami team ran out 30-13 victors in an surprising outcome - and performance

MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the team's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the final quarter - admittedly Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's top offences

Tua Tagovailoa threw two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two scores

Bottling up the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with Cook and teammates registering just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5-yard season average

Then there were the three critical turnovers, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins converted to seven points just later

It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team from the situation - rather than the calm, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this season

Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East

In Focus - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place

Regarding the Patriots, they're among three 8-2 teams in the league, all AFC teams, but are they the top team?

One could find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the weaker opponents, with just five of their combined twenty-four wins achieved against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Broncos

Denver defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the final quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their prime time win in Buffalo seems like a declaration

Their two defeats came in new head coach Mike Vrabel's first three contests, with seven consecutive wins, similar to Denver, from that point - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to get ready was significant

Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he definitely earns point for bravery after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa Bay but persevering to guide his side to success

The defensive unit is reliable and rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this season on his initial touchdown

While you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favourites to finish with the top record due to their schedule - which features just one game against a winning team, although a huge one against Buffalo

Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to face two times, the Chargers (who might also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list

The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to face. There is a long way to travel but the opportunity is available for a surprise top seed in the AFC

Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Clash

Two teams with solid claims to be better than all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to go to seven and two ahead of next week's major meeting between the two in Los Angeles

They've both secured four victories in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a contest

Both could easily be without a loss as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick deflected and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown

The Seahawks also lost to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely two of the top teams in the league

The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the year so far

Top Performer - Taylor
