Beloved Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

American actor Finn, who featured in beloved television series like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a message.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.

His film credits include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.

Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
