Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police reported they were contacted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then located numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior representative stated the vandalism left him without words and had to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
